Laser Hair removal London (Kent)
Before your first treatment you will have a consultation where you will provide medical history details and ascertain suitability. Before proceeding you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo a test patch.

How do lasers help remove hair?
Hair colour comes from the melanin pigment found in each hair. Melanin absorbs light, and when the melanin in the hair follicle absorbs laser light, it heats up and destroys the follicle. The surrounding tissue is not affected.
Those who have white or grey hair will not benefit from treatment, as the hair contains no melanin. However, the majority of people are suitable and will enjoy good results. Because dark hair contains most melanin, those with dark hair and fair skin often enjoy the best results. It is more difficult to treat fair hair, which contains less melanin.
How many sessions are needed?
Depending on hair colour and the area treated, more or fewer treatments will be necessary. To achieve the best results, six or more sessions, four to eight weeks apart, are necessary to catch all the follicles when the hair is actively growing.
Is laser hair removal painful?
Most people find the treatment perfectly tolerable, and say it feels like being flicked with a rubber band. To alleviate discomfort, we have a skin-cooling device, the Cryo 5, that can be used by the patient to direct cold air onto any specific area as required.
Should the patient wax, pluck, bleach or shave before treatment?
In order for there to be hair in the follicles to treat, at least four weeks must elapse between the last waxing or plucking and laser treatment. The hair should not be bleached, but shaving two days before the treatment is advised.
Will I see any immediate difference?
For a short while, the area may be red, tender and slightly bumpy.
It will appear that the hair is still growing, as the body ejects the hair left in the follicles. This is completely normal: although the follicles have been damaged, the hairs will usually take between one and three weeks to work their way out.
Massaging with good quality aloe vera gel after two or three days may be recommended.
In very few cases, the skin tone may lighten or darken temporarily, or slight blistering may occur.
